Embroidery to die for.gotta know how to get these gorgeous designs to your machine! Preparing a USB or Compact Flash Card for Embroidery Design transfer • The first thing to know is that the format for Janome Embroidery Machines is:.jef. So when purchasing from internet websites, you need to choose.jef format. If this format is not available, you will need software to convert the design to.jef.

Same applies if you buy a CD of designs: be sure to check it has.jef format if you do not own embroidery software which will convert another format to.jef • To format a USB or Compact Flash Card (memory device), put the memory device into your computer: Right click on it and scroll to the format on the drop down menu. The device MUST BE formatted in the FAT in the “File System” window. A quick format will work just fine.

• Take a blank USB or Compact Flash card to your sewing machine and insert it into the appropriate slot. The machine will put the correct folders onto the memory device. There will be 2 folders on Embroidery/Sewing machine memory devices an only 1 folder on the embroidery only machine. The folders will be EMB (for embroidery files) and ORD (for ordinary sewing or saved stitches in the sewing mode). The ORD folder will not be referred to as it isn’t needed for embroidery.

• After the proper files are on the memory device, you put the device back into your computer and copy your.jef format designs into the Embf folder ( the inner folder) and you are ready to start your embroidery project. • An extra note: Those who own the Memory Craft 0SE; 350E; 12000 and now the new 9900, can create folders inside the EMB folder and give them a name that means something to you. The important thing to remember is that your designs go inside that second folder so that the embroidery machine can find them. Thank you, Cheryl, for these extra tips & information. About lizafrica I am the National Education Manager for Janome & Elna Canada (including Artistic Creative products) and I LOVE to sew! I have been employed full time in the sewing and quilting industry for almost 30 years so I bring a wealth of sewing knowledge & expertise to this blog.

I enjoy all forms of sewing from quilting to sewing garments to machine embroidery and software. Pretty much everything in my life is seen through the eyes of a passionate sewer! I am constantly on the look out for fun, innovative and inspiring ideas to share with you all on this blog.

I also love to read, knit, travel and spend time with my family and friends. Hi: I have a janome 350E which I have used and loved for several years. I make sock monkeys and I embroider eyes for them. Recently, I have started using different software as it came with a new Husqvarna machine and my janome won’t recognize the design that I want. I purchased “doll eyes” and loaded the design with my 6D embroidery software. I made the changes that I wanted and exported it to my card in order to save it as a.jef file. The single design loads fine.

However, I like to use a larger hoop and complete four sets of eyes at a time. My old file 29 kb(different eyes), made with “Embird” loads fine, but the new one 34kb(4 pairs of eyes), using 6D software receives an error message: ATC card memory error Do you want to delete damaged or unwanted data? Yes I’ve deleted and reloaded this design several times, made sure it fits in the hoop, and still, the single pair will load, but the set of 4 will not. Any suggestions? Hi Jasmine, Have you asked your local Janome dealer for assistance?
